Usually I post breakfast and lunch, but I forgot to take a picture of breakfast. So today you're getting my snack instead.
My snack was celery and hummus. I enjoy it, but I'm getting tired of it to be honest. I recently bought some rice cakes, so I'll eat those with some peanut or almond butter after I finish up all the celery.
Lunch was - surprise, surprise - homemade caprese salad with cherry balsamic vinegar drizzled on top. I also had a few ham and swiss roll ups with mustard. It was very filling and actually couldn't finish it.
I just got a subscription to Nature Box. Not sure if you are interested in snack ideas, but I love it so far! Plantain chips are my new vice... I am being very careful to portion the bags as soon as I get them. They are about 100-150 calories per portion so they are nice snack sizes. Maybe you could find some ideas there for something new and different? Also, if you are looking for a change from normal hummus, try kidney bean hummus or baba ganoush (sp?). Both of those are similar in consistency and good for low carbs I think. Cheese spreads are also a good substitute but maybe too high in fat? I've been snacking a lot on fresh fruit lately. Grapes and Cherries have been on sale and my go-to for a quick bite. You are so diligent about your portions! I need to get better!
ReplyDeleteTake care!
I haven't tried plantain chips. I'll have to check that out. I know what you mean about portioning; I can go nuts with something if I don't portion it out! I love baba ganoush! I saw black bean hummus in the store the other day, so I may need to try that. I haven't seen kidney bean hummus, though. Thanks for the suggestions!
DeleteThere are some easy recipes on google you can use to make it yourself! I believe all i used was a can of red kidney, garlic and lemon. Fraction of the price of the store bought hummus :-)
DeleteThanks! I'll check it out. Hopefully it comes out better than the hummus I made a while back!
