small victories

I've decided to start posting when I have a small victory. Whether it's avoiding sweets, or carbs, exercising when I didn't feel like it, or not pushing a coworker out the window, I'm going to post it.

Today's small victory: We're having a bake sale at work today, which benefits the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life. Goodies came out at 8 am, 10 am, and 2 pm. It was going strong when I got in this morning. I took a look and drooled over everything, but I didn't buy anything for myself (but I donated money!). That's actually a huge victory for me, as I have a hard time avoiding bake sales.

  1. Hmm.. what is that smell? Oh, that is the sweet smell of VICTORY IS YOURS. :)

I love this idea. I might use it too! ;) Good on you for standing firm in the face of baked goods.

Today, I went to Aqua Aerobics and total calories burned was 713. I did some aqua jogging and walking afterwards.

As I was driving home, I thought momentarily of a frappucino drink with whipped cream. Then I remembered it would be almost as many calories as I just burned off, so that thought was easy to throw out. Then I thought of hot chips with gravy. But my car kept driving towards home, because my willpower and determination are pretty decent.

Then I remembered my awesome protein shake with peanut butter powder which I would have when I got home, and I thought how much more I enjoy that now, instead of the "treats" I used to have. Finding that stuff was key to keeping me on track.. :)

    1. That's great! Yes, frappucinos have A LOT of calories and it just doesn't seem worth it when you know how long you need to exercise to work it off!

Now I just need to work on the nighttime snacking...
