small victories: i did ALL my workouts last week

For the first time in awhile, probably since the beginning of the holidays, I worked out five days last week!  That means I did my four on-my-own workouts and worked out with the trainer, too. Three of the four days I did my prescribed workout, which bores the crap out of me but it's necessary, and one day I did the 30-minute workout my trainer gave me awhile ago. Having one day to take a break from the usual routine, while still working really hard, seems to make all the difference mentally for me. I really like the 30-minute workout because it goes by really fast and I'm just as tired when I'm done as when I do the normal routine that takes close to an hour.

While I was training Friday night, my trainer gave me a little preview of what I can expect after surgery. He didn't show me any new moves, but explained that I will be doing many new things, things I'll probably think are awful, while others I might like. He also said I'd be learning burpees and that no client of his ever leaves a session without doing them. That one scares me, actually, and I'm dreading it. Overall, though, I'm looking forward to changing things up.

  1. YAY well done! ;)

I wonder if it is worthwhile checking into what fitness classes might be available near you, just to change things up a little bit and give yourself a bit more variety? Are there any forms of exercise you might like to try?

I have a short list of things - hot hula is probably number one on there but good luck to me finding a class like that anywhere nearby. If I ever get back to Hawaii Hot Hula is high on my list of things I most want to do there.

I wish that WII FIT made a step aerobics game. Sure, there are some step aerobics in the wii fit thing but they are nowhere near as awesome as the step aerobics classes I used to enjoy. I might have to check and see if I can find a step aerobics workout on youtube. ;)

My past two workouts have been super tough. I don't know what it is about my mind, but it likes to push me further and further each time. Somehow we (me and my mind, that is) went from doing 10 minutes of running across my 30 minute workout to doing one minute walking, one minute running, then for the final 10 minutes keeping my heart rate up with 30 second sprints.

    1. I'll be getting much more variety after surgery. For now, it's the same old same old. I can deal with it for another 6 weeks...I think.
